When it comes to swimming, no age is too early or simply too late. This is one talent that every person should have; therefore you should make it a point that your children are not left behind.
You couldn’t be wiser if you are determined about your children learning how to swim. You can start giving them lessons as early as six months of age, as the sooner they start spending time in the pool, the more they will fall in love with it. Moreover, by beginning early, they start developing enough strength and coordination of muscles. Also this gives them enough self confidence which not only is a good thing for swimming, but for any area of life that they choose.
It is natural not to be comfortable about letting your children in the pool at a very early age. If this is the case with you, you can start preparing them on your own before they have their first encounter with the water of a pool.
Bathing time should be like playtime. While you are giving them a shower, let some of it come down their face by pouring it over their heads.
When they start getting used to water getting into their eyes and getting in their ears, swimming may seem a lot more familiar to them. Also toys while bathing can help them associate water with excitement.
On a sunny day, you can let them be in the small pool meant for kids, while you keep a check on them. Let them be eager about swimming in a large pool one day, so that they start working hard to make themselves capable enough to swim well.
Look for a school that has beginner’s lessons at an individual level, given by an experienced instructor. Just so that you do not remain worried, you can observe a lesson that is being given by the instructor. This will also ensure you that the teaching methods are just right.
Make sure you begin with these lessons as soon as possible, as this will come in really handy after a few more years.
